Community Free Clinic of Newport News is a nonprofit organization, with a mission to provide continuous high-quality primary medical and oral health care for the uninsured residents of the Virginia Peninsula. They provide a medical home for residents to coordinate care and promote wellness and disease prevention offering well clinics and health care education. The Clinic also provides health care screenings and specialty clinics to detect health problems early so that intervention may occur. Community Free Clinics aim to improve the Community’s health status and establish and facilitate support groups for men and women to promote health care. Also, to promote medical literacy and self-care. The requirements to be eligible for the Community Free Clinic are that the patient must be between the ages of 19-64, must be a resident of Newport News, Hampton, or York County, cannot have any form of health insurance to include: Medicaid, Medicare, or The Affordable Care act and have a total family income of less than 200% of the Federal Poverty Income. The Alabama Therapeutic Education Facility (ATEF) helps prepare participants to transition from incarceration to re-entry. It is a residential facility that provides comprehensive behavioral, vocational and educational services to prepare incarcerated people to enter the Work Release Program.
