Criminon New Life DC is a nonprofit organization offering rehabilitative services to justice involved individuals inside and outside prison. Staff and volunteers are committed to supporting individuals as they return to the community through comprehensive services and mentorship in an effort to disrupt the cycle of recidivism in Washington DC. Their mission is to use positive reinforcement and life development coursework to assist individuals with reclaiming a sense of pride and self-respect, as well as job development coursework to prepare individuals to reenter the workforce after incarceration. Course offerings at the Washington DC jail include two sequences that focus on positive behavioral modification, one that addresses the underlying issues of chemical dependence and one that assists individuals with conflict resolution. They also work directly with the Department of Corrections to refer individuals into treatment and reentry programs after release to help ensure their success.
