Families Against Mandatory Minimums (FAMM) is a nonprofit advocacy organization focused to challenge mandatory sentencing laws and advocate for criminal justice reform. FAMM’s mission is to create a more fair and effective justice system that respects our American values of individual accountability and dignity while keeping our communities safe. FAMM’s advocacy is focused on issues such as sentencing reform, prison reform, increased use of compassionate release, increased use of executive clemency. FAMM also advocates forcompassionate release and provides assistance to stakeholders, lawmakers interested in improving compassionate release rules and performance. FAMM houses the Compassionate Release Clearinghouse to ensure that eligible federal incarcerated people asking the court for release are represented by trained counsel. FAMM supports policies that provide individuals in prisons with rehabilitative programs and meaningful work and education opportunities, as well as substance abuse and mental health treatment. For families of incarcerated people, FAMM has put together a list of resources and helps them with any questions that they may have.
