The Louisiana Federal Bonding Program is part of a nationwide bond program that helps promote the hiring of justice-impacted people. Through the program, the United States Department of Labor offers fidelity bonding insurance coverage to individuals with criminal convictions and other high-risk job applicants who have the skills but struggle to secure employment because regular commercial bonding is unavailable based on their backgrounds. Employers can apply for the bond through the Louisiana Workforce Commission. The program will cover behaviors such as theft and forgery, but does not cover work injuries or poor performance on the job. Louisiana’s employers currently underutilize the program, leaving more than 1 million justice-impacted people in Louisiana without viable opportunities for permanent employment. Businesses and contractors can contact the Louisiana Workforce Commission for information or to apply for a bond.
