Michael Perlin Center for Substance Abuse Intervention
Michael Perlin Center for Substance Abuse Intervention provides alcohol education programs and drug education programs that address the problems of driving under the influence. This court-mandated program is designed for first-time wrongdoers who are given the opportunity to erase the arrest from their records upon successful completion of the program. Through the use of an evidence-based approach of clinical intervention, it aims to reduce the incidence of repeat or multiple offending. It also seeks to identify those wrongdoers who are in need of more intensive services to address their substance use needs. The Pretrial Alcohol Education System and Pretrial Drug Education Program for first-time wrongdoers provided under the umbrella of the Michael Perlin Center, enable The Connection Inc. to serve the community.
The Alabama Therapeutic Education Facility (ATEF) helps prepare participants to transition from incarceration to re-entry. It is a residential facility that provides comprehensive behavioral, vocational and educational services to prepare incarcerated people to enter the Work Release Program.
