New Path Community Housing is a community based organization that works to address chronic homelessness and its accompanying issues. They are the first “Housing First” organization in Idaho, meaning that they are the first initiative to prioritize safe, stable housing for individuals who are experiencing homelessness. This model is based on the premise that we cannot heal and recover from underlying factors until we are able to provide individuals and families with shelter. Currently, New Path Community Housing has one permanent shelter located in Boise’s West End, strategically located near public transportation, grocery and retail establishments, and community services. In addition to housing support, New Path Community Housing offers on-site social services, medical care and life skills programming. Their primary focus is to address chronic health issues associated with homelessness while helping individuals and families move into permanent homes.
