OpenDoors (previously the Family Life Center) is a nonprofit organization serving justice-impacted individuals and their families. They were founded exclusively to assist the needs of individuals with a criminal conviction through a combination of direct services and community advocacy. Their mission is to ensure that individuals successfully reenter the community after incarceration, disrupt the cycle of recidivism and encourage community investment that reduces incarceration rates. The 9 Yards program offers wraparound services to individuals exiting the corrections system, beginning with pre-release coursework and transitional housing upon release. Individuals then receive case management and employment services. The Employment Class program offers job development and placement services to people with criminal convictions. OpenDoors also operates a section 8 residential community exclusively for individuals with criminal convictions and has a walk-in center located in Providence. Individuals can contact the program directly for more information or to discuss available services.
