Red Crescent Clinic of Alabama is a collaborative effort free clinic for underserved and underinsured individuals in the Hoover, Alabama area. This collaboration is by the Birmingham Islamic Society and the Association of Physicians of Pakistani-descent in North America, Alabama chapter. Founded in 2012, this nonprofit medical group clinic is comprised of volunteer staff who donate their time and talents to serve those in need throughout Alabama state. Fifteen physicians work on a rotating basis for the clinic, with the hope that they can eventually expand availability. The mission of Red Crescent Clinic of Alabama is to provide high quality primary health care services to everyone regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or ability to pay. They are currently unable to provide specialist care or emergency services. The hours of operation for the clinic are Sundays from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The Alabama Therapeutic Education Facility (ATEF) helps prepare participants to transition from incarceration to re-entry. It is a residential facility that provides comprehensive behavioral, vocational and educational services to prepare incarcerated people to enter the Work Release Program.
