The Sentencing Project is a nonprofit organization focused on crime and punishment in America. Its mission is to promote effective and humane responses to crime that minimize imprisonment and criminalization of youth and adults by promoting racial, ethnic, economic, and gender justice. They aim to protect voter eligibility and full civic inclusion, end extreme sentences in the United States, safeguard youth from the ravages of the adult criminal legal system and push for alternatives to youth involvement in the adult and youth justice systems and invest in positive community development. They work on issues such as sentencing policy, mass incarceration, drug policy, racial justice, youth justice, gender justice, voting rights, collateral consequences and campaign to end life imprisonment.
