Tundra Women’s Coalition is a nonprofit organization and crisis outreach center for women escaping violent situations. Founded in 1988, TWC was created to address alarming incidence of assault and other violent crimes against women in Bethel, Alaska. TWC provides safe, empowering services for individuals and families that have been battered or otherwise assaulted, or who fear that they will soon be. Although TWC is primarily for women and their children, room is also available for male victims. Services provided include a 43-bed shelter, a 24 hour crisis line, administrative offices, a legal advocacy program, a community education program with a village outreach component, a youth violence-prevention program called Teens Acting Against Violence, a children’s program, a housing program with transitional houses, and a thrift store. Victims can make an appointment with advocates or walk in to talk about their situations and options. Contact Tundra Women’s Coalition directly for more information on their services.
